She was the nanny named Fran for over six years, and now at 57, Fran Drescher is ready to be a mum.
Fran, 57, and her new husband Shiva Ayyadurai, 51, who she married in an intimate beachside ceremony at their Malibu home in September, are thinking about expanding their family and adopting.
“We talk about adoption,” Fran candidly told Closer Weekly.
Fran and her scientist husband say they have considered all aspects of adoption and although they don’t want age to impact their decision, it is still a factor.
“Would we be good parents? Are we too old? We don’t really know what the right answer is,” She said.
If the newlyweds were to adopt, it would be the actress’ first child.
The star of ’90s TV show The Nanny, was previously married for 21 years to her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson who revealed he was gay after they married.
Fran says the announcement didn’t exactly surprise her.
“During our marriage he had told me he might be bisexual, but he wanted to stay married,” she told People.
“By the time he told me, I had survived uterine cancer. Nothing could shake me.”
The pair have remained friends since divorcing in 1999 and Fran has campaigned for gay rights in support of her ex-husband.
“It’s great that we had the ability and the wisdom to reinvent our relationship. All those years weren’t for nothing,” she said. “We’re very tight. We’re best friends.”
With Fran’s open outlook to life, we think she’ll make a wonderful mother, after all she was the Nanny!
