Former Biggest Loser contestant Leigh Westren has revealed he was addicted to the dangerous drug ice for eight months, which saw him spend $80, 000.
In a recent interview, Leigh, 28, revealed he was spending time in “crack houses” and using about “15 to 20” times a day alongside other junkies and dealers.
He believes he spent a total of $80,000 on the drug and dropped to 69 kilos.
“I thought I’d have ice once and that was it,” he says. “But I loved the high it gave me, so I took it again … and again, and again. Within a week, I’d gone from trying ice for the first time to becoming an ice addict. I was hanging out in crack houses and doing ice all day with junkies, hanging with dealers.”
Leigh appeared on season six of The Biggest Loser in 2011, alongside his former girlfriend of six years, Lara Whalan.
However, it wasn’t until July 2014 that he first tried ice, after the passing of a relative.
Once hooked on the drug, he was kicked out of home by his family and cut ties with his friends.
“The important thing is that I focus on staying off drugs and repairing my relationship with my parents.”
