Can we get a drumroll, please! The first pictures of George Clooney on set of Downton Abbey are here.
Looking very dapper in his 1930’s dress-up, the 53-year-old play’s an American character who is a wedding guest at the country estate of Downton.
Set to screen as part of a special charity episode at Christmas time, George’s guest appearance on the smash-hit TV series is in support of British charity Text Santa, which aims to raise much needed funds for U.K charities during the festive season.
And it turns out the Hollywood heartthrob made quite the impression on the show’s matriarch Dame Maggie Smith while filming the sketch back in September.
Word on set was that the 79-year-old, who plays the very proper Dowager Countess, was so delighted by her George encounter that she went weak at the knees. And who could blame her!
Head over heels: Downton Abbey’s Dame Maggie falls for George Clooney
Of George’s time on set, Tom Cullen, who plays Lord Gillingham said he was a hit.
“I know he gave Maggie a kiss and she collapsed onto the sofa…” he said. “He’s a very handsome man, isn’t he?”
