What’s the secret to Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s six-year marriage? Balancing work and family life and regular marriage therapy sessions!
The 39-year-old got candid with Allure magazine discussing how her ten-year relationship with Josh has gone from strength to strength!
“We wanted the same things in life. We wanted the same path. We both come from Catholic families.”
The singer remembers clearly when they met for the first time in 2004, on the set of Josh’s series Las Vegas, joking “he just wanted to get in my pants”.
Fergie welcomed their son Axl Jack in 2013, and she couldn’t help but gush about his fathering skills.
“He’s great! He is present — wants to make it work, wants to be a good husband and a good father,
“He’s there for me, really there for me.”
She cites that they are both determined to have a successful marriage, and aren’t afraid to ask for help.
The two have embraced therapy. Whether they attend sessions separately or together, Fergie thinks counselling has improved their marriage.
“He’s not afraid. He doesn’t feel like he’s not man enough.”
The couple have learnt that compromise keeps their family together, while allowing them to focus on their careers.
“My husband and I made a two-week rule,” the singer explains.
After becoming parents, the couple updated their agreement.
“We’ve already talked about how we’re going to have to trade off.He’s going to have to come on tour with Axl for a while, and then there’ll be a break. He’ll take a job; I’ll be on set with [Axl]. You know?”
For now, another baby will have to wait with Fergie focusing on her second solo album.
