After seven seasons of playing The Mother of Dragons, AKA Daenerys Targaryen, AKA Khaleesi, it seems Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has officially morphed into her character. The Me Before You actress debuted a drastic hair transformation, that is suspiciously reminiscent of her famous character, on Instagram today. The usually glossy brunette, showed off a new platinum blonde look and captioned the snap:

“I done did it. Mother of dragons meet Emilia. Emilia meet mother of dragons. If you squint just so you might never know.”

She then posted a second photo with her tresses freshly dried and styled saying: “The experiment continues. My IQ has stayed around average and my need to be near fire breathing creatures and uncomfortable seats made of iron has trebled.”

The two hairdressers behind Emilia’s transformation are hair and makeup designers for the HBO show Game Of Thrones, not to mention, the creators behind that Rapunzel-inspired Khaleesi wig. This information has sent GOT fans into a spin, questioning what this sudden style overhaul will mean for The Mother Of Dragons in the coming final season of the show?

Considering Khaleesi’s hair is famously long, thick, curled and braided while Emilia’s hair is fine and sits just at her shoulders, fans are theorising that Daenerys will go through some sort of dramatic physical change. Perhaps the beloved hero will be imprisoned and tortured?

Is it time to say farewell to that famous platinum wig?

It is also possible that the Daeny will eventually chop her hair shorter. As many fans of the book have pointed out over the years, Daenerys should actually have shorter hair. In the books, when Drogon rescues her from the Dragonpit and douses her in fire, she survives but loses her hair. Basically, fire can’t burn her body, but her hair ain’t so fire retardant. There might be a shampoo for that, Khaleesi.
