Ellen Degeneres has defended herself against racism allegations after she posted a meme of herself getting a piggy back from Jamaican sprinter and Olympic champion Usain Bolt.

After she posted the snap on Tuesday people took to Twitter to say the edited picture was racially insensitive and one user lamented that the image had “ugly connotations comin [sic] from a rich white lady”.
But the 58-year-old host has hit back on twitter with a follow up post that reads:
“I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am.”
