She’s best known on Seven’s Sunrise as the quick-witted and lovable presenter with the warmest of smiles, but it seems mum-of-two Edwina Bartholomew is more than just a talented newsreader.
Eddy, who turns 40 this week, appears humble and unassuming, but the seasoned TV veteran is already emerging as one of the country’s most successful property tycoons!
According to a close source, Eddy is on track to becoming a multimillionaire before the end of the year!
“Eddy’s a natural at finding amazing properties with huge potential, and working her magic and making them into something very special,” the source reveals exclusively to Woman’s Day.
“She and her husband Neil [Varcoe], who is also a respected journalist, know that Eddy might not want to be on TV forever, especially given it’s such a cutthroat industry and the hours are long, so this is their money-making ticket out of the sometimes-crazy media rat-race!”
Joining the likes of other celebrities, including former Miss Universe Australia Jennifer Hawkins and Hollywood A-list couple Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, who’ve made a fortune flipping properties, Eddy and Neil are hoping their latest purchase will set them up for life!
Taking to social media in May, Eddy broke the exciting news they’re the proud owners of the historic Victoria Hotel in the picturesque town of Carcoar in the NSW Central West tablelands region.
“A new chapter for the town time forgot. A new full-time project for us,” she told her 223,000 Instagram followers. “A new side hustle for me in addition to waking up with you every morning on @sunriseon7. Reopening 2025 (with a lot of Fawlty Towers updates to come between now and then),” she cheekily added.
The couple’s purchase comes after a whopping $2.1 million windfall on their Dulwich Hill home in Sydney’s Inner West in March this year.
“There’ll be nothing Fawlty Towers about this new venture!” assures the source. “Just look at what they did with their other property, Warramba, in the Capertee Valley near the Blue Mountains – its luxury five-star farmhouse retreat vibe fetches upwards of $600 a night.
“Eddy has been lucky to have her long-time friend and former Sunrise colleague Kochie to turn to for financial advice – he’s no doubt been a great help navigating through some of the financial minefields that come with buying and renovating,” the source explains.
“She’s actually amazing how she juggles motherhood – Molly is now three and Thomas just 16 months – with her full-time gig on Sunrise and her hands-on approach with their renovation projects.”
Now it remains to be seen if in fact the lovable presenter will turn her sights further afield and ventures into the international market.
“Eddy has big dreams one day to head to either Italy or Spain to fulfil a lifelong dream to take on an old rundown ruin and convert it into something out of this world.”
