Duchess Catherine goes baby shopping

With only 10 weeks to go until the birth of her royal bub, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has been busy doing a spot of baby shopping.

Accompanied by her mum, Carole, she perused Blue Almond in upmarket South Kensington, a store said to create “magical rooms for children”. The duchess was seen leaving with a large white wicker Moses basket priced at $445.

The pair continued to browse baby stores before stopping for lunch at Zefi Mediterranean restaurant.

They were then picked up by one of Kate’s security guards.

The following day, the duchess was again spotted shopping for baby bits and pieces in Chelsea, where she spent several hours looking at car seats and strollers.

During the final weeks of her pregnancy, Kate is overseeing the final renovations on Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace.

The apartment will not be ready by the time she gives birth, and her and Wills’ current home, a cottage within the palace grounds, isn’t the ideal place to bring up a bub.

As a result, the duchess has decided to spend the first six weeks after her child’s birth living with her parents at their new Georgian mansion in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

With the help of a maternity nurse and her mother, Kate has told friends she can’t think of a better way to spend the first few weeks with her new baby.

“It’s where I feel safest,” she says.

The duchess is expecting in mid-July and will start maternity leave about a month prior.
