It’s no secret Drake has always had a soft spot for Rihanna – Well, he does gush about her every chance he gets.
But we thought the public declarations might stop when the pair ended their on/off relationship in October.
Apparently not.
Drake gave an extremely sweet shout-out to his ex-girlfriend for her 29th birthday on Monday.
During his concert in Dublin on Monday night, a fan took a video of Drake announcing: “It’s somebody’s birthday today — somebody I have a lot of love for and a lot of respect for.”
“So, instead of singing ‘Happy birthday,’ though, we just going to do this in Dublin. Instead of singing ‘Happy Birthday,’ we’re going to set it off just like this…”
Then the song Work started, his collab with RiRi. Of course.
It’s just the latest in a long line of Drake tributes to Rihanna, the most extreme being the time he professed his love for her during his speech at the VMAs last year.
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22-years-old,” he told the crowd at the time. “She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her, even though she’s younger than me. She’s a living, breathing legend in our industry.”
While it’s very sweet he still has “a lot of love” for Rihanna, it’s certainly cast doubt over the current state of his love life.
The internet blew up over Christmas when Drake and Jennifer Lopez posted a coupled-up pic with many assuming they were a hot new ‘thing.’
They’ve since been spotted getting cosy at Drake’s NYE show in Vegas, where J.Lo was in the VIP area showing her support.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, J.Lo didn’t technically confirm her relationship with Drake, however she did say that age has nothing to do with who she dates (FYI: Drake is 30 and she is 47).
“I don’t date younger men. It’s not like you have to be younger. It’s not about that,” the singer said.
“I just meet people and if I go out with them, I go out with them. And if I like them and I like them. If I don’t, I don’t. It’s about the person. It’s about who they are. It has nothing to do with age.”
Maybe Jennifer is super chill about his “love” for his ex-girlfriend. Or it could be all over before it even really began.
