The last time Kim Kardashian revealed she was pregnant in December 2012, she left it up to her rapper beau Kanye West to break the exciting news.
During a show in Atlantic City, the outspoken star stopped the music to sweetly proclaim: “Can we make some noise for my baby mama?” as he pointed to his other half in the crowd.
And thus the world knew Kimye were with child.
So when news that the reality star was pregnant with her second child surfaced on her pal Jonathan Cheban’s entertainment website, The Dishh, which launched last year, tongues began to wag that the PR guru may have accidentally let the cat out of the bag a little early.
Indeed, everything that the well-oiled Kardashian West clan do is not spur-of-the-moment and something as special as a baby announcement would surely be given a more personalised treatment?
Strangely, all of the Kardashians/Jenners were silent on social media as the baby news broke.
While the rest of the world lost its mind about baby Kimye number two, Kim was instead busy firing off tweets about the current episode of the show.
“The crash was so scary & the way it was edited doesn’t even do it justice! I keep North out of the show so we had to cut around that footage,” one post read, perhaps a sign that the Selfish author’s social media posts are all pre-scheduled.
She added: “If u only saw Northie’s reaction! As a mom I got protective and left that scary moment out of the episode for her privacy.”
Jonathan, on the other hand, didn’t miss a beat and gushed: “Congrats Kim!!! Baby #2!!!,” alongside a link to his website with the story.
However his congratulatory Tweet was later deleted.
About three hours later matriarch Kris Jenner – who is usually the first one to celebrate happy family news – finally came to the party and tweeted: “Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to meet your new little love bug!!!!! Sooooo happy for you guys!!!!!!!!!! #blessed #love #family #youaresobeautifulpregnant.”
Jonathan didn’t miss a beat to congratulate Kim via social media however a few hours later the 41-year-old had deleted his Tweet.
The Spin Crowd star had obtained footage of the moment Kim announced she was expecting, which he published alongside the scoop.
But the the grainy quality of the pregnancy announcement, which looked like it had been filmed on a hand-held camera, only roused more questions.
It’s not the first time the New Jersey local’s actions have been brought into the spotlight. In December last year Kim herself blamed Jonathan of leaking stories about her family to the press – something which he vehemently denied at the time.
“Do you not think I have anything better to do in my life. This is so f** rude,” he fumed at Kim in one particularly heated exchange on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Eventually the brunette beauty realised it was a photographer that was to blame and the pair buried the hatchet.
Meanwhile E! News, the network which Keeping Up With The Kardashians is aired on and Kim holds a close affiliation with, were also hot on the heels to confirm the baby bombshell but interestingly, the website didn’t have an official quote from the reality star herself.
Instead they relied on the same quote from the same questionable clip which Jonathan had been touting, yet the popular entertainment website didn’t include the footage in their story.
And it seemed that whoever published the story on Jonathan’s website had ample notice as they also teamed it with a slew of photographs looking back at Kim’s first pregnancy.
Something tells us this isn’t the way the queen of social media wanted things to happen…
