George Clooney — Oscar-winning actor, filmmaker, philanthropist and everybody’s favourite celebrity crush — has revealed that he’s taking a step back from acting.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, the father-of-two admitted that he no longer sees himself as the leading man.
“I acted for a long time and, you know, I’m 56,” he said, adding, “I’m not the guy that gets the girl anymore. At least, I shouldn’t be the guy that gets the girl.”
The Suburbicon director also revealed that his initial need for acting — an income — no longer exists. But his passion for movie-making has entirely disappeared.
“Acting used to be how I paid the rent, but I sold a tequila company for a billion dollars. I don’t need money,” he shared.

“I have money. So I can fight to make movies I want to make. If you look at what I’ve been in over the past 15 years, for the most part they weren’t going to get made if I didn’t do them. Nobody was going to make Good Night, and Good Luck, Michael Clayton or Up in the Air, and I fought to get those out there.”
Of course, the actor recently confirmed that he and his business partners — Rande Gerber and Michael Meldman — sold their tequila company, Casamigos, for the tidy profit of $1 billion.

George and wife Amal became first-time parents back in June, welcoming twins Alexander and Ella.
Speaking ahead of his big red-carpet return at the Venice Film Festival earlier in the year, the filmmaker spoke about the realities of parenthood.
“I just have to clean the barf off of my tux,” he told the Associated Press. “It used to be my barf but now it’s the twins’ barf. So it all works out.”
George and Amal welcomed twins — a boy and a girl — back in June.
The new parents have remained tight-lipped about their new arrivals, save for a handful throwaway comments.
“Right now my job is changing diapers and walking them around a little bit,” he said about his and Amal’s newborns. “I really didn’t think at 56 that I would be the parent of twins. Don’t make plans. You always have to just enjoy the ride.”
He continued: “Suddenly, you’re responsible for other people, which is terrifying.”
The Monuments Men actor admitted that much of the credit belongs to his 39-year-old wife.
“She’s like an Olympic athlete,” he said. “She’s doing so beautifully.”
