“How could I not have a tear in my eye when I saw Candice walk around the corner looking like the most beautiful bride in the world?” he says. “I was struck again by just how lucky I was to find The One – the woman I will spend the rest of my life with.”
Candice, 30, stunned everyone in her French tulle and lace wedding gown, with its floor-length veil sparkling in the sprinkling rain, and a fortune of borrowed diamonds.
“I felt like a princess,” smiled Candice, who was transformed from champion ironwoman and mum into a bride of such beauty it brought her groom to tears.
“There was so much love in the room,” she said, reflecting back on the day she wed David, 28, with seven-month-old Ivy by their side. “It was the best day of my life next to having Ivy. I had a lump in my throat during the ceremony.”
Drawing gasps of appreciation when her father Michael Falzon walked her down the aisle, Candice wore a $25,000 custom-made gown gifted from Pallas Couture, dripping in diamonds and glowing with happiness.
“I didn’t think I’d ever wear a dress like this,” she says.
The elegant form-fitting gown made out of sheer French tulle with lazer cut lace, layered sequins and a short train, took three women in Perth four weeks to make, with Candice flying in for a secret final fitting when David played in WA.
“I feel like I’m shining from the inside out,” she smiled.
But Candice in all her finery was almost upstaged by cute-as-a-button daughter Ivy, who was dressed in her own white lace gown and wearing a floral headpiece as she was carried down the altar by David’s nine-year-old nephew Kaden.
David made a spectacular entrance of his own 20 minutes before his bride, when he and his three groomsmen flew in a helicopter and landed in the grounds of the estate.
