The Covid pandemic has absolutely devastated the performing arts industry and since Lisa works in theatre, it’s been particularly challenging for the family to navigate lockdowns and uncertainty.

Now things are slowly getting better after many states in Australia have opened up, and Lisa has been able to reopen Dean Bryant’s show, Sondheim.

Of course, David was front and centre during the opening night, and he has taken to his Instagram to pay tribute to Lisa’s strength and achievements.

He posted two pictures on his grid featuring his wife and the show’s cast on stage.

The 48-year-old began his message by reflecting on the arduous journey they faced this year.

“I cannot tell you how overwhelmed with pride I am for my wife @lisaluckiest and her incredible team at Merrily We Roll Along. 119 days from preview 1 to preview 2 because of lockdown. Keeping the cast together.”

David continued: “Then reopening in a heartbeat to put on @deanjbryant wonderfully directed Sondheim. I cried a lot on opening night.

“The critics are raving, and rightly so. It is incredibly poignant after all we have been through. The cast and team are all perfect. Go see it before all tickets are gone,” he finished.

A slew of fans sent positive messages to the couple in the Today Extra presenter’s comment section.

One wrote, “You’re both so lucky to have found each other. Your children are your best productions, too ❤️,” and another shared, “Was there last night!! It was absolutely brilliant!! Massive congrats to everyone involved!! ❤️❤️❤️.”
