With six UK number ones singles, and 24 in the top ten the world has lost so more more than a musician in the passing of musical legend, David Bowie.

He created characters to go with his albums and he became the voice of an era. His enigmatic personality drew people into his mystery, and he became one of the most influential musicians of our time.

Social media is alight with tributes to this man described by Sir Paul McCartney as “a great star” and The world has lost a true game changer, the irreplaceable, the enigmatic, David Bowie.

His hits include Let’s Dance, Changes, Space Oddity, Starman, Modern Love, Heroes, and Under Pressure, and his final studio album was released last Friday on his 67th birthday.

It is said to a be farewell to his fans as David Bowie knew he was dying of the cancer that he kept a secret for 18 months before it finally claimed his life.

This guy was known as Davey Jones, or David Robert Hayward-Jones to his mum. He changed his named to David Bowie in 1966.

David Bowie released Space Oddity in 1969. It is about the launch of a fictitious astronaut named Major Tom. The song became the soundtrack for the Apollo 11 moon landing.

David Bowie took on a persona named Ziggy Stardust in the early 1970’s.

A song was titled Ziggy Stardust from the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars released in 1972.
