UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham has taken to Instagram to show how UNICEF and its partners are helping children who have endured physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and protecting them from danger.
The recently turned 40-year-old is currently in Cambodia with the charity, sharing his journey with his 7.1 million Instagram followers.
“Today’s amazing visit with @unicef to meet children affected by violence. Violence against any child is unacceptable. Children should never be in danger…great to see @unicef work & the smiles on these children’s faces …,” Beckham wrote alongside one photo of him greeting young Cambodian children.
The football superstar also shared an image of him sightseeing and visiting the historic Angkor Wat temple.
Beckham has been a UNICEF Ambassador for the past 10 years and has said he is in Cambodia to “meet children who have experienced violence, hear their stories and see what UNICEF and its partners are doing to keep these children safe. It is shocking that every five minutes a child dies because of violence somewhere in the world. This has to stop.”
The trip follows on from his February launch of ‘7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund’, to protect millions of children around the world from danger. ‘7’ is David’s personal commitment over the next decade to helping the world’s most vulnerable children. Through ‘7’, he hopes to raise vital funds and encourage world leaders to create lasting positive change for children. You can find out more here.
