And now, David Beckham is paying tribute to one of the most instrumental women in his life – his late grandmother, Peggy West.
Taking to Instagram on the three year anniversary of her passing, David shared a touching black and white snap from the day he received an OBE at Buckingham Palace in 2003.
“This day 3 years ago I lost my Grandma someone so strong and so special to us…” the father-of-four penned.
“This picture was one of the proudest days of my life. For someone that loved the royal family as much as she did I was able to take her and my granddad with me to the palace to receive my OBE… We miss her every single day.”
David’s oldest child Brooklyn also shared a heartbreaking tribute to his great-grandmother.
“Miss you nan so much. X miss your bacon sandwiches.. can’t believe it’s been 3 years,” he mused next to a snap of Peggy cuddling him as a baby.
Peggy, who was David’s mum Sandra’s mother, sadly died in 2013 from a stroke.
Despite his incredible career, David remains a passionate family man at heart.
“In my career there’s many things I’ve won, and many things I’ve achieved. But my greatest achievement is my family. What matters is being a good father and a good husband – just being connected to family as much as possible,” the 41-year-old has previously said.
David and his wife of 17 years, Victoria Beckham, are the proud parents to sons Brooklyn, Cruz and Romeo and daughter Harper.
