The 46-year-old, who used to front news program The Project, touched on Masterchefโ€™s George Calombarisโ€™ simmering situation.

โ€œWhat happened at the soccer, I think it was a heat of the moment thing.โ€

Musing, โ€œHis team had just been beaten in heartbreaking fashion and then someone yelled at him at the wrong time.โ€

He recently guest starred on Q&A and viewers went nuts. We probed to see if heโ€™d ever do something like The Project again.

Taking a moment, he says, โ€œAnythingโ€™s possible and I do love it. But the nightly commitment of The Project got a bit much for meโ€ฆ thereโ€™s certainly something in that for sure.โ€

But Dave admits the little ones have inherited his ability to crack a zinger.

โ€œThe other day my wife took the three of them to some premiere, maybe the Smurf movie, anyway apparently my six-year-old said โ€˜I wish dad was hereโ€™ and my wife asked why.โ€

โ€œShe said โ€˜If dad was here everyone would say thereโ€™s Dave Hughesโ€™ kids!โ€™โ€

โ€œThey make me laugh!โ€

โ€œLook. I steal a lot of her material, thereโ€™s no doubt about that,โ€ he confesses.

Adding, โ€œWe have a really good time together thereโ€™s no doubt about that!โ€

The pair have been married for over a decade and clearly still make each other laugh.

โ€œWe are talking to each other all day! If Iโ€™m on tour I call her 100 times a day, so much so that it actually annoys her,โ€ he quips.

โ€œConstant communication is so important. We enjoy our conversationsโ€ฆ Our battle of wits, if you will.โ€
