The countdown to Christmas has officially begun.
It’s time to celebrate Christmas with the stars, with Julie Goodwin whipping up a perfect maple glazed ham and Maggie Beer sharing her recipe for a to-die-for pudding in what
has become an annual feel-good tradition – the TV show Christmas with the Australian Women’s Weekly.
Airing at 7pm on Sunday on the Nine Network (then in catch-up on on 9 Now), it features special guest appearances by the nation’s newest lovable larrikins, Ben and Andy from The Block building a clever chalkboard table for the kids.
Farmer Wants a Wife host Sam McClymont goes behind the scenes at The Weekly’s fashion shoot in the Barossa Valley, the show features clever online shopping tips, and Luke Mangan whips up a seafood feast, perfect for the Christmas table. The weekly’s Xanthe Roberts creates a show-stopper tiramisu ice-cream cake (above), and the kids can get creative with the clever craft idea.
To keep it all in the family, the show is hosted by Today show host Lisa Wilkinson, who was the cover star of the Weekly’s December issue.
Julie’s tips for the perfect Christmas ham
Look for the Australian Pork symbol.
Cut only the skin off the ham – make sure you leave the fat, which gives the ham it’s flavour and moistness.
The secret is in scoring the fat, and glazing regularly, to really dial up the flavour.
