Following Lisa Wilkinson’s shock departure from the Today show this week, Australia has been left wondering who will fill her seat next to Karl Stefanovic on the popular breakfast show.
Could PR queen Roxy Jacenko be up for the most sought after job in the industry?
TV WEEK’s editor Thomas Woodgate told us that the obvious frontrunners are of course, Sylvia Jeffreys, Deborah Knight, Georgie Gardner and Chris Bath. Maybe Roxy would bring a fresh of breath air to the Today team?
The bookies’ money is on Sylvia.
Her legions of fans certainly think so.
Roxy, who is a good friend of Today host Karl Stefanovic posted a clearly photoshopped image to her Instagram account.
The photo showed Roxy sitting next to Karl, her head photoshopped onto Lisa Wilkinson’s body with the caption, “Look forward to waking up with you tomorrow @thetodayshow.”
Clearly, a joke, though some people got pretty into the idea.
“I’ll finally consider watching it again,” one fan commented.
“I would watch you gorgeous,” said another.
Joke or not – not everyone was onboard, with just as many commentators suggesting they would rather never wake up again than wake up with Roxy. Ouch.
“There’ll be a lot of urgent meetings about this and I don’t think we’ll be waiting too long for an announcement to be made on who will be filling the seismic hole left by Lisa’s departure,” Thomas explained.
“It’s tough to know the timeline of something as big as this, but given how quickly it was announced that Lisa was heading over to Network Ten, I think within the next week we’ll hear news,” he adds.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
