Coach Coach Alen Stajcic could barely contain his excitement.

โ€œWeโ€™re probably one of the most dangerous teams at the World Cup, if not the most dangerous team going forward,โ€ he said in an interview on NineMSN.

โ€œWith such a young team, weโ€™ve seen so much growth and development in such a short space of time.

โ€œIf they keep growing, we can beat anyone in the world.

โ€œHoly shit. Holy shit! Brazil are out of the World Cup! Australia are through to the quarterfinals! It wasnโ€™t supposed to go down like this. Brazil finished first in their group, while Australia finished second in the Group of Death,โ€ Howard wrote.

โ€œThere have been a lot of upsets this World Cup, but this is the biggest one of the knockout stages, and itโ€™s also the biggest win in Australiaโ€™s history. Brazil looked all tournament long to be one of the best sides, but of course, that doesnโ€™t matter now.โ€

Australian surfing champ Sally Fitzgibbons joined a list of celebrities including Liz Ellis and Dave Hughes to congratulate the team on Twitter.

โ€œGooo @TheMatildas Our Aussie Women claim a huge Win vs. #Brazil to move to QuarterFinal stage @FIFAWWC Maginificent performance #Aussiepride,โ€ Fitzgibbons wrote.
