Jerry Lewis, legendary actor, filmmaker and comedian passed away on Sunday at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 91.
The passing of the beloved entertainer was today confirmed by his publicist, Candi Cazau.
Lewis had suffered multiple illnesses in later life including, prostate cancer, pulmonary fibrosis and two heart attacks.
Jerry Lewis was a defining figure in American entertainment as we know it today, probably best recognised for his slapstick comedy work with Dean Martin in Martin and Lewis.
The pair made 17 movies together through the late 1940s and early 1950s. The pair parted ways in 1956 after ten years working together.
Jerry Lewis went on to write, act in and direct over 30 films solo.
As well as continuing to make the world smile, Lewis also raised over $2.6 billion dollars for those with muscular dystrophy.
Tributes for the star have been pouring in, including tweets from Ellen DeGeneres, Whoopi Goldberg and Jim Carrey.
