Her personal life has been a disaster, but the former Queen of Pop has fought her way back into the spotlight.
Last year, Colleen Hewitt was lured out of self-imposed retirement, away from her idyllic life in Fiji, to knock ’em dead on the stage as Hugh Jackman’s mum in The Boy From Oz.
It was the tonic that the 1970s music icon needed. Having dealt with three failed marriages and self-loathing about her weight, Colleen triumphed with her portrayal of Peter Allen’s mum.
Now she’s set to do it all again, playing mum to Tim Campbell’s Johnny O’Keefe in the production of Shout! The Legend Of The Wild One. It also features Australian Idol judge Mark Holden and fellow Aussie pop greats Glenn Shorrock and John Paul Young.
In this week’s Woman’s Day, we catch up with an energised and blissfully happy Colleen to talk about life, love and why her first marriage was the right one.
