Lead actress in the upcoming Cinderella film, Lily James put on a liquid diet to fit into her blue corset!

The upcoming live-to-action movie brings to life the Disney classic, quite literally, with many of the outfits mirroring the animation- including the stunning, yet tiny, blue gown worn by Cinderella to the Prince’s ball.

Chatting to E!, Lily admitted that the corset was so fitted, it forced her to skip meals.

“I think I may be trying to get sympathy a bit there. I’m being a bit over the top. When [the corset] was on we would be on continuous days, so we wouldn’t stop for lunch or a lovely tea like this. You’d be sort of eating on the move. In that case, I couldn’t untie the corset,” Lily said about the dress.

“If you ate food it didn’t really digest properly, and I’d be burping all afternoon in [Richard Madden’s] face, and it was just really sort of unpleasant. I’d have soup so that I could still eat but it wouldn’t get stuck.”

Many have criticized the actress’ choice to endorse meal skipping and body image, especially given the nature of the audience watching the film. But in an interview with the L.A Times, Lily silenced those critics calling them “hypocritical”.

“They contradict themselves, and they’re drawing more attention to it,” Lily said.

“I’m so healthy. I’ve got hips and boobs and a bum and a small waist.”

Despite the negative attention Lily has received about her waist in the film, she does believe in the importance of promoting a healthy body image.

“For girls growing up sometimes I think they get the wrong idea for what women should look like,” Lily told E! News.

“And I think it’s so important to be healthy and confident and natural. And not put too much stress on trying to be thin—I don’t get the thin, thin thing at all.”

“I’m actually finding it really hard not to eat right now.” She added.

Lily has also faced scrutiny from fans about how that tiny waist was achieved, with many believing CGI or Photoshop had come into play.

“In the blue dress, it was designed so that it was really pulled in at the waist. But also, the fact that the skirt’s so big, it’s almost an illusion,” Lily said at a press event.

“It looks way smaller than it is.”
