He’s notoriously private and painfully handsome, but Christian Bale’s recent appearances has got everyone talking – for all the wrong reasons.

Christian Bale’s ruggedly good looks, chiselled jaw line and ripped body make him one of the most lusted after men in the business, but lately he’s left a lot of people wondering… what happened?

Spotted in an Adidas tracksuit at LAX this week sporting a scruffy beard and a gaunt-looking figure, the 41-year-old was a far cry from his days as Batman.

Just a few months ago, the American Hustle star was spotted yet again with much longer locks and an even more disheveled appearance.

The star has been well-known to undergo dramatic body overhauls for his movie roles, most famously losing around 28 kilograms in just four months for his role in 2004’s The Machinist.

In 2009, he shape-shifted yet again for his Oscar Award-winning role as boxer Dicky Eklund in The Fighter.

“I can’t lose that much weight, because I wouldn’t be able to box and train and everything. I didn’t look at numbers, I didn’t look at scale, I just went down to what looked like might be the right body type for Dicky and the way that he fights as well,” he explained at the time.

Earlier this year Christian was looking even more disheveled.

It would seem the actor has been keeping a low profile lately as he gears up to promote his upcoming film The Big Short with Brad Pitt.

It seems Christian has spent time focusing on this family since the birth of his son Joseph in 2014.

Who could forget his glorious body in American Psycho?

The British actor has been married to his wife Sibi for 15 years and they also have a 13-year-old daughter, Emmaline.

“My wife was a stunt driver—she was chasing me through the city in Batman. She was driving one of the cop cars. She can do 180s and stunts and all that. She terrifies me. My wife terrifies me,” he revealed about his family in a rare interview with The Wall Street Journal.

He also quipped, “I’ve brought up my daughter like a son.”
