Chris Hemsworth has been married to his Spanish wife Elsa Pataky for ten years.
So, you would think he has mastered the basics of the language by now.
But it appears the actor is still learning, but at least he can laugh at himself.
The Thor star posted a selfie with Elsa and a cake with a chocolate plaque that read “Feliz Navidid Elsa,” which translates to ‘Merry Christmas’ for her 46th birthday.
As if his first blunder wasn’t hilarious enough, it was also spelt wrong as the second ‘i’ should be an ‘a.’
In his caption, Chris acknowledges his mistake with a dose of good humour at his own expense.
“For those of you who speak Spanish you’ll notice that my Spanish has improved to a level of perfection here with a beautiful birthday message for @elsapataky 😜🎉,” he sarcastically penned.
Obviously, his fans got a kick out of the faux pas!
One commented, “Navidid 😂 just perfect,” and another wrote, “your Spanish is definitely.. something! happy birthday Elsa!
But they were forgiving towards the movie star, “Feliz navidid? I’ll let it slide only cuz it’s you lol,” shared a fan on behalf of his 55.6 million followers.
Elsa was all smiles in the photos, and she even let Chris plant a kiss on her forehead despite his mistake.
The 38-year-old shared a sweeter tribute for his wife’s big day a few days earlier.
He posted a picture of him sitting on her lap while in his Thor costume, and he gushed, “Happy birthday to this gorgeous lady! Thanks for always being my rock to sit on but way comfier. Love you @elsapataky ❤️🎉.”
The adorable couple was introduced through the talent agent William Ward in 2010, and in an interview with Elle Magazine, after they went public, the Marvel star revealed how he knew she was the one.
“There was no light-bulb moment,” he said. “From the first time we met, we just made sense,” he said.
The couple have welcomed three kids together a daughter called India Rose and twin boys Sasha and Tristan.
