Chris Hemsworth best known for his role as Thor, decided it was only fitting to parody the fan-favourite character while he hosted popular US sketch show Saturday Night Live.
Having starred in four films as the Nordic superhero, the noticeably slimmer star brought his Australian larrikin nature to the skit.
Chris managed to make the God of Thunder a rowdy spectacle. The skit involved Thor, along with other parodied Avengers superheroes being interviewed by a reporter played by SNL funnyman, Bobby Moynihan after defeating Ultron- slight spoiler as he is the villain in the upcoming “Avengers” sequel!
“I’m at like an 11 right now!” a victorious Chris/Thor shouts into the microphone before hugging Bobby.
“I’m sorry, I totally just kissed your head. That was weird.”
Chris’ funny portrayal of his famous character was well-received by fans and critics alike, as was his opening monologue on the show.
“This is incredible. The last time I was on live TV was when I did Australia’s version of Dancing With the Stars. Yep, that’s true,” Chris laughed.
“But most likely tonight will be even more embarrassing than that. Probably my biggest role, that you would know me from, is playing Thor. I have played Thor in four movies. Thor I, Thor II, The Avengers and Gone Girl.” He added.
During his monologue, the famous Aussie was joined by his brothers Liam and Luke and SNL member, Keenan Thompson who tried to pass of as the ‘fourth Hemsworth’.
“I am not the only actor in my family, I have brothers, two of them, three, maybe four, I don’t know, but they are actors as well. If it’s okay I thought I would bring them out and share this moment with them.” Chris joked.
The Australian actor was overjoyed to be on the celebrated comedy show, and decided to mark the occasion by joining Twitter, posting a photo from backstage.
Kim Kardashian, take note – there are other ways to break the internet, as Chris proved.
“Two things are happening right now: 1. My first tweet 2. Getting ready to host @nbcsnl with @zacbrownband,” Chris wrote.
Within two hours his post was retweeted over 7000 times and his new account gained over 40,000 followers.
Keeping it in the family, (both biological and his Marvel family), Chris’s first followers were his brothers Liam and Luke Hemsworth followed by his Marvel friends; Tom Hiddleston, Joss Whedon, Stan Lee, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Paul Bettany and Jeremy Renner, among others.
