Aussie actor, Chris Hemsworth celebrated his 35th birthday on the weekend surrounded by family. But a wild prank by his son almost turned the happy occasion into a trip to the emergency room.
The Thor actor shared a photo of his birthday cake on Instagram and revealed in the caption that he later ended up with his face pressed into the burning candles.
“Immediately after this shot was taken my son viciously attacked me from behind (due to his ninja training) and slammed my face into the flaming candles,” Hemsworth wrote. “I’ll now be playing Deadpool if @vancityreynolds (Ryan Reynolds) pulls the pin.”
Chris’ wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky shared a special birthday tribute to her husband.
“Happy birthday to my biggest child!” she wrote alongside a snap of the pair pulling silly faces.
“I love you to death @chrishemsworth. Let’s be kids forever!!”
The actor’s celebrity pals also shared special messages for Chris on social media.
The father-of-three was delighted by a video greeting from one of his favourite artists, soul singer Leon Bridges who sang a special birthday tune for the actor. Chris’s Thor Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson, recruited Leon for the message.

Meanwhile, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson also sang a birthday note for his buddy Chris, who took to Instagram to share the message.
“If anyone was gonna break the news to me being the least favourite Chris I’m glad it was you @therock and embedded in that message a birthday song brought me joy,” wrote Chris on Instagram.
“Also my kids after seeing this said “dad are you friends with Jumanji!!!”. And now possibly think I’m cool. They expect you at each of their birthday parties in the coming years.”
