Charlie Sheen will spend 30 days in jail if he pleads no contest next week to the misdemeanour assault of wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day in Aspen last year.
The Two and a Half Men star has decided to plead guilty to a lesser charge than the more serious charges he initially faced, in order to receive the reduced sentence, the UK’s Daily Mail reported.
Thirty-three-year-old Brooke, who has since split from the actor, claimed Charlie held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.
She later tried to withdraw the charges but Colorado prosecutors pushed ahead with the case.
The 44-year-old star is set to appear in court on June 7 for the hearing and is expected to commence his month-long stint in jail immediately, which could be cut short depending on Charlie’s behaviour.
“Charlie intends to go to court on June 7 [to] plead to a misdemeanour and immediately begin serving his 30 days in jail,” an unnamed source told People magazine.
“With good behaviour, he could end up doing 15 or so days.”
