On Sunday, October 31 – almost 10 months since René’s passing – the French-Canadian singer attended the Adisa Gala in Quebec, Canada, to accept an award on behalf of the late 73-year-old, who was a renowned musical producer and talent manager.

He was also Celine’s manager.

Upon accepting his accolade – the honorary Félix trophy – Celine not only presented a heart-wrenchingly touching speech to the attentive crowd, but she also took to the microphone to sing a song for the man she shares three children with.

“[René] not only one of the greatest visionaries of the Quebec music industry,” she said. “He was also one of the biggest fans of musical artists that ever existed.”

“It was a great honour for me to receive trophies over the years, but to be here to receive a trophy that’s not for me, that’s even more touching,” she said.

“He’s not physically present, but I’m sure he’s here tonight. I don’t think he missed any of this, and I’m sure he’s very proud.”

Celine stood strong as she accepted René’s accolade.
