Celine’s long-time friend and stylist, Annie Horth chatted to People revealing how even in death, Rene is showing his unwavering devotion to his wife.
“René was generous enough to prepare all of this since the last few months with Céline,” the stylist explained. “He didn’t know when it would happen, but he really wanted everything to be already prepared.”
Annie added that because of this, Celine is “going through [this] peacefully and with control.”
Rene passed away on January 14 at the age of 73 after a long battle with throat cancer.
“Rene Angélil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer. The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time,” his rep said in a statement.
The father-of-three revealed in his obituary that he wished to be laid to rest at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, the church where he and his wife tied the knot back in December 1994.
“According to his final wishes, his funeral will be held at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, where 21 years ago he chose to marry the one who will remain as the great love of his life, the artist for which he had the most respect, the woman who gave him light and happiness until his very last breath,” Rene’s obituary read.
While Celine is yet to speak out publically, her rep has denied claims that she would perform during his funeral, however one or two songs may play during the tribute.
It is an incredibly difficult time for Celine and her three children — René-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 5. The singer lost her brother Daniel to cancer just two days after her husband passed away.
The brave mother of three is believed to return to her Las Vegas performances on 23 February.
