Actress Julianna Margulies, star of The Good Wife, has announced she will be releasing her very first children’s book in May 2016.
The book, titled Three Magic Balloons, is based on a story written by her late father, Paul Margulies, about three little girls who take weekly trips to the zoo.
The idea for the book came when Julianna discovered her father’s unpublished manuscript after his death in October. As she and her sisters loved her father’s other stories, Gold Steps, Stone Steps and What Julianna Could See, the actress decided to bring her father’s story to life.
“My father had published two children’s books, Gold Steps, Stone Steps and What Julianna Could See,” said Margulies. “As children, my sisters and I loved all his stories, and there were many. We collectively decided that Three Magic Balloons was worth sending out to publishers—if we could find the right illustrator.”
And find him they did. After searching for a while, they came across Grant Shaffer, who signed on to do the illustrations.
“My father always used to say to us, ‘Magic is everywhere, you just need to know where to look!’” said Julianna, “We think children will feel the same way after reading Three Magic Balloons.”
