It’s a case of “Why stop at one?” for Catriona Rowntree and hubby James Pettit. The TV presenter chats to Lucy Chesterton about baby No. 2.
As she curls up on a couch to chat about her second pregnancy, Catriona Rowntree subconsciously rubs her tummy. Looking down suddenly, the exuberant TV presenter breaks into a grin before laughing heartily at herself and admitting that, even after 22 weeks of pregnancy, she’s still getting used to her compact bump.
“So far, what’s happening to my body has been the opposite of all the old wives’ tales about a second pregnancy!” she says, stretching and readjusting her position in the warm sun streaming through the window.
“I was told ‘You will show earlier’, ‘You will be bigger’, and ‘Your appetite will skyrocket the second time around’. “But it hasn’t been that way for me at all. I’m still worried people look at my tummy and just think it’s too much spaghetti bolognaise!”
For Catriona, the decision to have a second child with devoted husband and “country boy” James Pettit, 39, was a conscious one. Their son, Andrew John Rowntree Pettit, was born in August last year but Catriona, also 39, knew she didn’t want to risk delaying another baby.
“I’m in my late thirties so I didn’t want to muck around,” Catriona says firmly. “I don’t want to be pregnant for the next seven years, and while that baby changing table is out, we may as well put it to good use!”
