Cate Blanchett took her favourite little leading man, her son Roman, to the Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday night.
The actress was accompanied by her son Roman, aged nine, who donned a tiny sports coat to attendthe event in Santa Monica, California.
Roman appeared to be on his best behaviour as he sat at his mother’s VIP table with other A-list celebrities. He even managed to mingle with Sandra Bullock, who is going up against his mum in the best actress category at the upcoming Academy Awards.
This is not the first time Cate has taken one of her kids to a fancy industry event. The mother-of-three has been spotted at awards shows and premieres on the arm of her other sons, Dashiell, 12 and Ignatius, five.
The Blue Jasmine star looked superb in a floor length dark green Lanvin gown but was almost upstaged by her cute-as-a-button date who wore a mini tweed jacket with tan elbow patches.
Cate’s awards season has got off to a glittering start with her Golden Globe win last week, her win last night and this morning’s best actress Oscar nomination.
The 44-year-old has been nominated five times before – for Elizabeth (1999), The Aviator (2005), Notes on a Scandal (2007), I’m Not There (2008) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2008).
While the Aussie star has only walked away with the golden statue once, for her supporting role in The Aviator, she is the red hot favourite to take out the best actress award at this year’s ceremony which will be held on March 2.
