After making headlines last week with her โ€œbisexual bombshellโ€, Cate Blanchett has now denied having had any โ€œlesbianโ€ relationships in the past.

The Australian actress had been quoted in her interview with Variety saying that she had had โ€œmanyโ€ relationships with women in the past.

In her interview with Variety, Blanchett was supposedly asked by the interviewer if this was her first time โ€œas a lesbianโ€, to which Cate replied โ€œOn film โ€“ or in real life?โ€

And when further pressed on whether sheโ€™d had relationships in the past, the actress reportedly confirmed it by saying, โ€œYes. Many times.โ€

But in a recent conference at Cannes the mother-of-four claimed she had been misquoted.

โ€œFrom memory, the conversation ran, โ€˜Have you had relationships with women?โ€™ And I said, โ€˜Yes, many times. If you mean Iโ€™ve had sexual relationships with them, the answer is โ€˜Noโ€™,โ€ she said, โ€œBut that obviously didnโ€™t make it to print.โ€

The journalist who wrote the story, however, denies that he misquoted her, tweeting, โ€œWhen I asked Cate Blanchett if sheโ€™d had lesbian relationships in real life, she said: โ€˜Many times.โ€™ She was accurately quoted.โ€

Cate, however, isnโ€™t fussed about the โ€œlesbianโ€ tag.

โ€œIn 2015, the point should be: โ€˜Who cares?'โ€ she added.

Cate is currently in Cannes promoting her new film, Carol.
