According to gossip site TMZ, Debbie Reynolds passed away from a ruptured blood vessel which resulted in bleeding of the brain.
TMZ, which has obtained the 84-year-old’s death certificate, reveal her exact cause of death was cited as an intracerebral hemorrhage – or more commonly known as a stroke.
However mystery still surrounds Debbie’s daughter, Carrie Fisher’s cause of death.
TMZ have also seen the Star Wars actress’ death certificate, which reveals the 60-year-old passed away from a cardiac arrest but further testing will be carried out by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office to determined what cause the fatal heart attack.
The formidable mother-daughter duo died in December, just one day apart.
Fisher, who had suffered a medical emergency on December 23 aboard a flight from London, died on December 27, with Reynolds passing away the following day from a stroke.
“She didn’t die of a broken heart. She just left to be with Carrie,” her son Todd Fisher told 20/20.
Further testing will need to be carried out to determined what exactly caused Carrie Fisher’s massive stroke.
Over the weekend, a joint private memorial was held for the pair at their Beverly Hills compound in LA.
Meryl Streep, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gwyneth Paltrow, Meg Ryan, Courtney Love and Billie Lourd’s rumoured boyfriend Taylor Lautner were all in attendance for the gathering of their nearest and dearest.
In a final tribute to their close bond, the pair were laid to rest next to each other at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
Giving a nod to Carrie’s battle with depression and her incredible work for mental health awareness, the actress’ ashes were placed in a Prozac pill-shaped urn.

“Carrie’s favourite possession was a giant Prozac pill that she brought home years ago,” her brother Todd explained.
“She loved it. It was in her house and [daughter] Billie and I felt it was where she would want to be.”
“Carrie would like that. It was her favourite thing and so that’s how you do it.”
