The Project is all about shining a light on the news in an unexpected way, and over the years, it has proven its biggest intention is to serve the Australian public.
And this week two of the show’s hosts, Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar, have done just that by banding together to get their COVID-19 vaccination.
On Monday, the duo headed to the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne to receive their first dose of the COVID jab, which has been available to those in the over forty brackets for a few weeks.
Carrie documented her experience at the vaccination hub by posting a selfie with Pete and musing: “Vaccinated 👍.”
Although the 40-year-old turned off the comment section in the post, she did did leave a link for her followers to visit the COVID-19 Information Centre for further vaccine resources.
Meanwhile Comedian Peter Helliar posted various pictures from inside the facility, which featured his wife, Bridget Helliar, nurses and of course, Carrie.
He also posted a lengthy caption to encourage people to get their vaccine.
“First jab ✅. Thank you to all the staff who are running an incredibly smooth operation at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne,” the 45-year-old wrote.
“If you are eligible get vaccinated to help protect our state & country against this hideous virus. Thanks @brijmurphy & @bickmorecarrie for being my vax partners!.”
His followers filled the comment section with positive words of encouragement, with one stating, “Congrats. Getting mine next week!! 💉,” and another said, “Great stuff guys 👍👍👍.”
The Project hosts will have to wait two weeks before they can get their second dose.
Both Carrie and Peter have been getting through Melbourne’s fourth lockdown, but it appears things may be looking up because the Herald Sun reports, “Melbourne is set for a lockdown reprieve on Friday.”
