The Project host Carrie Bickmore is beaming as she prepares to welcome her bundle of joy to the world.
Carrie announced her pregnancy live on air while presenting The Project in October last year. Now, she looks as radiant as ever in a bright pink jumper that barely covered her growing bump while meeting a friend for coffee in Melbourne.
It’s no wonder Carrie can’t wipe the huge smile off her face. After tragically losing husband Greg Lange to brain cancer four years ago, the presenter of The Project has found love with Chris Walker, a former producer on the show, and now they’re about to start a beautiful family together.
“I’m so excited,” Carrie, 34, says in this month’s Australian Women’s Weekly, on sale now.
“He [Chris] is going to be a great dad. He loves kids. He’s been an incredible support to me.”
Carrie was spotted attending the Australian Open in January with dad-to-be Chris as her baby bump was beginning to blossom.
Most importantly for the blonde star, Chris is “incredible” with her son Ollie, 7, who Carrie remarks is just like her late husband.
“I look at Ollie and I see Greg,” she smiles. “He looks so much like him and I credit so much of his good nature to Greg. I love that when I look at Ollie, I see Greg in him… he’s always present.”
The impending arrival has Ollie jumping for joy. “He spends all day kissing and hugging and touching my stomach,” says Carrie. “He’s expecting a boy. I say, ‘There’s a 50 per cent chance you’re not getting a boy so you’ve got to get your head around that’.”
Counting down to her April due date, the usually private star told AWW how first-time dad Chris is over-the-moon too!
“He’s so excited,” says Carrie. “Perhaps even more excited than I am. He’s been an incredible support for me.”
