Who was the man that Carly Simon was singing about, when she sang: ‘You’re so vain’?
For decades, people have assumed that Carly, now 70, was singing about her ex, Warren Beatty, and now it seems that she was.
“I have confirmed that the second verse (‘You’re so vain; you probably think this song is about you; don’t you; don’t you?’) is about Warren,” the now 70-year-old singer told People magazine in an interview published this week.
But other parts of the song are about other men, whom she didn’t name.
As for what Warren thinks, well, naturally, he thinks it’s all about him.
You’re So Vain was a number one hit in the United States in 1972.
