Married At First Sight alum Cam Merchant has proved why he’s a fan-favourite on and off the screen!
On Sunday, the father-of-one was at his local supermarket when he picked a stranger at random to buy groceries for.
While lining up at the checkout, Cam approached a young mother with a seven-month-old baby in a pram, and paid for her entire weekly shop.
“I’m a new dad as well and I understand, I get it,” he told the woman, who was blown away by his random act of kindness.
“It’s obviously hard when she’s sick and not sleeping well,” the mum said of her baby, before telling Cam she was struggling to find time for herself.
Cam, who shares his 18-month old son Ollie with wife Jules Robinson, then asked the woman if she had any advice for new parents.
“Keep going, keep your head up,” she responded.
“Some days are tough but others are amazing. Take everything as it comes. If you have a bad day tomorrow would be better”.
Cam and the woman known only as Alyssa then hugged, with the MAFS star telling her, “Together we can be a little bit stronger.”
The 38-year-old uploaded a video of their interaction to Instagram with the caption, “Keep going, keep your head up.. Some days are tough but others are AMAZING!”
“Parenting.. It’s never easy but by checking in, having a conversation & helping one another, it can make a little difference & things just a little easier.”
Dozens of fans and fellow reality stars praised Cam for his generosity, with former Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson commenting, “The world needs more people like you mate. Great work, keep doing what you’re doing 😘😘.”
MAFS season nine star Al Perkins wrote, “Loving your work brother” while Johnny Balbuziente commented, “Beautiful ❤️.”
Cam knows all too well the struggles that come with being a new parent. In October 2020, he and Jules welcomed their first child Ollie to the world.
Since then, the couple, who met on MAFS in 2019, have kept their fans updated on every adorable milestone Ollie has reached!
