Five months after Harrison Ford’s terrifying plane crash, Calista Flockhart has finally addressed the crash that seriously injured her husband.
73-year-old Harrison gave his wife, and the rest of the world, a major scare when he made a dangerous emergency landing in a vintage WW2 single-engine plane, after it experienced an engine failure.
The Star Wars actor was able to land in a nearby golf course, but banged up the plane – and himself – in the process.
Despite her husband’s hazardous hobby, Calista has said she will “support him 100 per cent” in his future aviation adventures.
“He loves it, so I love it, and I support him 100 percent,” the former Ally McBeal actress during the CBS TCA panel for her upcoming show Supergirl.
“I think it just makes you realise once again that life can turn on a dime, and we just have to appreciate every second we’re here, because you never know.”
Speaking on the crash itself, Calista revealed to People Magazine that it was a “really hard, scary time” for her family, which includes 14-year-old son, Liam.
Harrison’s crash into the green of a local Californian golf course was his third major crash in his aviation career. It followed crashes in 1999 and 2000, where the actor escaped injury.
“Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon take off,” his rep explained in a statement, “He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care.”
His son, Ben, by first wife Mary Marquardt, tweeted out confirmation of his dad’s condition, claiming that he was “battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.”
“Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad.”
Harrison suffered a broken pelvis and a broken ankle in the crash.
