The UK press is reporting that Arsenal have snapped up the eldest son of Victoria Beckham and retired English soccer star David Beckham ahead of his father’s former club Manchester United and cross-city rivals Chelsea.
Brooklyn, who has long been a fan of the football team, is said to have impressed during training sessions.
An unnamed Arsenal insider told the UK’s Daily Star that a long term contract could be on the cards if the 15-year-old continues to impress.
“Brooklyn is talented and he has stood out in all of the training sessions and games he has played,” the source said.
“He has had other teams sniffing around and it was always going to be a case of when, not if, he was signed up by a big-name club.
“Arsenal realise he can be a huge talent. They have seen that potential and protected their asset.”
The source added that by signing the young athlete Arsenal have managed to fend off interest from other clubs, like London rivals Chelsea and northerners Manchester United – the team where David, 39, began his hugely successful career with as a midfielder.
While the chances of Brooklyn playing in Arsenal’s first team anytime soon are slim to none having the genes of ‘Goldenballs’ means that playing football is in the Beckham blood.
The Beckham’s other boys are also keen footballers with Romeo, 12, reportedly playing for Arsenal’s under-13s club, while Cruz, nine, has been representing the under-10s.
