Brooke Jowett was a powerhouse pocket rocket during her two stints on Australian Survivor, proving she could take on even the strongest of competitors.
So, it’s no surprise the 29-year-old personal trainer has her sights set on another gruelling reality TV show; SAS Australia.
When asked about the prospect of putting herself through the gruelling course, Brooke lights up with excitement.
“I would love to give that a go actually to see how far I can push myself. Obviously it’s very different to Survivor,” she tells Now To Love.
“After last season I very much left with that challenge beast image. So I’d be a little bit nervous on SAS Australia or Ninja Warrior in case I don’t live up to that, but I’d love to give it a good crack.”
Brooke also wouldn’t say no to a third stint on Survivor.
“I live for it!” she laughs. “If I got asked to come back I don’t think I’d have it in me to say ‘no’. It would definitely be a yes from me.
“Mostly because I love pushing my body pushing my boundaries. And half a million [dollars] would be an absolute treat.”
Brooke, who previously dated her Survivor co-star Locky Gilbert, also revealed she and her boyfriend-of-two-years Chris Cavanagh have taken a big step in their relationship.
“We actually just put down an offer on a house. We’re waiting to hear back. It was a big step for me because I’m a huge commitment-phobe,” she beams.
“I’ve made very good decisions over the last few years and [dating Chris] is definitely one of them.”
Aside from her love of her partner (and pushing her body and mind to the limit on TV), another passion of Brooke’s is health and fitness.
As a qualified personal trainer, Brooke has a few tricks up her sleeve to help Aussies get motivated.
“I sleep with my active wear right next to my bed. When you’re all cuddly in bed you don’t want to get up and get changed, so I get changed under the covers and go straight to the gym, it’s a lot easier,” she says.
“Working out first thing in the morning is good because it saves you from making up excuses later in the day, even though it’s cold!”
When it comes to day-to-day workouts, Brooke says variety is the spice of life.
“For me I think in terms of motivation, a lot of people stick to what they know and don’t push the boundaries with trying new things. I’ll probably do four different types of exercise in a week to keep it exciting,” she says.
“I’ll go running, do strength and Pilates and a boxing class. You make it exciting and mix it up.”
Another cause close to Brooke’s heart is the environment. Through her partnership with healthy meal program Hello Fresh, the reality star is using her platform to educate Aussies on the devastating impacts of food wastage.
“There’s a few tiny changes we can make that can actually go such a long way,” she says.
“Always check your fridge before going to supermarket. I have been very guilty of having carrots in there and not taking the time to check the fridge and going to the shop and buying them again.”
Brooke, who grew up in a large Australian/Sri Lankan family, knows all too well how easy it is for families to accidentally throw out mountains of perfectly good food.
“What I’ve noticed with my family and a lot of Aussie families is that we love bulk buying saving. Shopping at those big supermarkets, you tend to buy more than you need and most of it goes off before you get to it,” she says.
“We all love nature we all love the outdoors, so taking care of the planet is something that’s really important to me.”
