After sharing a video on her Instagram stories of her meditating in her house, Brooke Blurton sat down with her followers to discuss her grieving process.
While sitting on her floor in activewear, the Bachelorette star revealed she had been reflecting on feeling “the best I could have been” in early 2021 and how she wishes she “could go back to that.”
Brooke, 26, continued to talk about her late sister, Ky, who sadly passed away after wrapping up her season of The Bachelorette in August 2021.
She revealed how different her break up with Darvid Garaveli is compared to that significant family loss.
Watch Brooke’s Instagram confession in the video below.
“I think I’m just hurting I still can’t even say my sister’s name without crying, and I don’t think a break up can really even compare to losing a sibling if I’m honest,” she admitted.
“I grieved the break up much quicker than I grieved my sister. But I am really excited for finding all the different cultural and meditative practices that you can do and practice to heal, and to become a better version of yourself.”
Earlier in her confessional style video, she talked about volunteering at a remote community over Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021.
Alongside pictures taken from her time there, she asserted it had been a “healing” experience, and she yearns to go back to that feeling.
Her shock break up from Darvid was announced by him in a blindsiding Instagram post earlier this month.
Last week, Brooke revealed details about the seemingly-sudden break up and that she was the one who ended things with her Bachelorette winner.
“As you’re all aware, Darvid and I have gone our separate ways. Darvid on the 2/1 came online and publicly announced that we had parted ways,” Brooke shared in a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday night.
“In an ideal world I would have preferred to have a mutual agreement and/ or had a say in when/how we express that to the public but instead woke to that news which obviously kinda shocked me. Which is where you saw my reaction.
“But Darvid had every right to make that decision, his platform, he can choose that for himself. I’d say it’s better to rip the band aid off.”
“It was my choice to end the relationship and I had been thinking about it for a bit towards the end. My reasons for that are completely valid to me.”
Brooke said there was an intense amount of pressure on their relationship, but admitted “we both lost ourselves along the way.”
“I have a lot of respect for Darvid and what he gave up for me to be IN the relationship. We had a very real love in a very unreal situation but we equally had ALOT of pressure on us too. Which I felt I carried everyday.
“At the start of the show, I was the best version of myself and when the show ended and my sister died. I became my worst and my saddest.”
Brooke insisted there was “no infidelity, no hate” behind their breakup, and said she and Darvid are “as amicable as you can be during a healing process.”
“I still love him dearly and have no regrets choosing him. I just wish the world was a little bit more gentle on us in the time we had,” she said.
“I wish him all the very best and with support I’d really just like to move past this and hope that we become the best versions of ourselves this year.”
