Pop princess Britney Spears and superstar diva Mariah Carey have swapped the stage for the set, with both singers confirming they will be making guests appearances on TV shows this year.
After gushing about her favourite show, CW’s critically acclaimed Jane the Virgin, Brit has been cast as a guest on an upcoming episode.
Last year the 33-year-old told People Magazine, “I get really into Jane the Virgin. It’s fun.”
And now, she’s going to be on it!
The Oops I Did It Again songstress revealed her happy news on Twitter yesterday, tweeting Jane the Virgin actors, Gina Rodriguez and Jaime Camil.
“See u at the Marbella Hotel soon, @hereisgina @jaimecamil! Guest starring on one of my favourite shows EVER @CWJaneTheVirgin #DreamComeTrue,” Britney tweeted.
And Brit isn’t the only one excited.
Lead actress Gina Rodriguez could hardly contain her joy when she tweeted her idol back.
“Literally fell out of my chair @britneyspears I cannot wait to work with you beauty!” wrote Gina, “I’m covered in goosebumps. This is unreal!!!”
Britney and Mariah’s respective shows: Jane the Virgin and Empire.
Mariah Carey also has a silver screen appearance lined up.
Banking on her reputation as an industry superstar, Mimi will be showing off her acting chops on music industry drama, Empire.
The news was confirmed by actor Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon in the show.
“That rumour is true,” Jussie told People, “That makes me feel so good to say that rumour is true!”
“She’s just the best. She says ‘darling’ a lot But I say ‘darling’ too as a joke, so it works perfectly,” said the actor of his new co-star, “This friendship works very well.”
He added: “She’s a good human being and a really sweet lady.”
“Don’t get me wrong, she’s a diva. I said to her, ‘Do you own flats?’ She’s like, ‘Darling, no.’”
“Okay. That’s why she has dope calf muscles! [She has] the greatness of a diva but [she is also] the regular, chill girl that you just want to chill with.”
Of course, it’s neither stars first rodeo with Britney famously appearing on Crossroads and Mariah on Glitter – among many other acting gigs over the years. We can’t wait to tune in!
