Looks like a romance between Britain’s most charming chubby girl and America’s foremost faux neurosurgeon might be brewing.
Since leaving his role as Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd on popular medical drama Grey’s Anatomy earlier this year Patrick Dempsey has been in talks to return to the silver screen in the upcoming Bridget Jones’ Baby.
It is rumoured that Dempsey, 49, will join Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth in the third instalment of the Bridget Jones franchise which, like the working title suggests, follows story of Bridget having a baby.
It is understood that while Zellweger, 46, and Firth, 54 are keen to reprise their roles for the new rom-com Hugh Grant will not be back as the deceptively charming Daniel Cleaver.
While the deeper details of the plot are still under wraps the film will not be following Bridget Jones author, Helen Fielding’s latest book, in which (SPOILER ALERT!) Colin Firth’s character, Mark Darcy dies.
Firth seems to be delighted that his character has been spared for the cinematic instalment. Last year he said he would be interested in filming another Bridget Jones movie so long as it had “somewhere to go”.
“Back at the time I said that a third one should only happen if we were telling a story about having moved into a different generation when we were all beginning to deteriorate a little bit,” he told The Independent. “I think we might be ready for that moment!”
The first Bridget Jones film premiered in 2001 to critical acclaim and its sequel, Bridget Jones: The End of Reason hit theatres in 2004.
Earlier this year Eric Fellman of Working Title told the Daily Mail that he hoped filming would begin in late 2015.
We can’t wait to see how Bridget nabs hunky Dr McDreamy? It shouldn’t be too hard, she is after all a wanton sex goddess.
