Four kids, a divorce and a re-engagement later, AFL star Brendan Fevola and his wife Alex couldn’t be happier

Throwback! While it’s not known exactly when Brendan and Alex (nee Cheatham) met, it’s estimated they first crossed paths sometime in 2004.

Brendan and make-up artist Alex first married in 2005, but ended their on-and-off nine-year marriage in 2014.

Fortunately in 2016, the couple got back together and later announced their engagement that same year.

The first time around, the couple tied the knot at St John’s Church in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Toorak. Brendan was 24 when he became a step-father to Mia, then five.

In 2016, Brendan announced he had proposed to Alex (for a second time).

“Over my break, I gathered the kids around and a few friends and asked the ‘shnooksie’ to marry me again,” he said. “I was a bit nervous, I didn’t think she’d say yes, but it was really beautiful with the kids there. They were all going: Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii.”

“I’ve got an ex wife who’s now my fiancée, how confusing. She’s an amazing woman… she has an amazing story, just amazing.”

In 2009, the couple separated and revealed that during a brief reconciliation they conceived their second child, Lulu.

While filming I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, Brendan revealed that he and Alex had gotten back together.

“I used to be like, ‘Oh yeah yeah yeah’ but now I sit there and listen, and I’m like: ‘That’s amazing’. We never used to do that sh–,” he candidly told co-star Paul Harragon.

The former AFL champ is a devoted step-father to Mia, 21, and dad to Leni, 14, Lulu, 10, and Tobi, who turns three later this month.

“I was a bit nervous, I didn’t think she’d say yes,” Brendan said of re-proposing to Alex.

“Because we’ve been married before and obviously been divorced. It was really beautiful with the kids there.”

In May 2018, Brendan announced on his The Fifi, Fev and Byron radio show that he and Alex were expecting their fourth child, Tobi.

“We’re having another baby,” Fev told the show at the time. “It all happened when we went to America over Easter – well, not that part, it was a little bit earlier than that – but Alex was feeling really sick over in America. I was like to her, come on, you’ll be right. She thought she was just jet lag.

“We have an 18-year-old, we have a 12-year-old and we have an eight-year-old. So, we’d shut up shop and I didn’t think it worked anymore; that it was all done and dusted.”

After Brendan won I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2016, Alex said the show was “absolutely life changing for him.”

“It’s been great for the kids to watch him and it’s been wonderful to have such lovely positive feedback about him.”

On Mother’s Day 2021, Brendan penned a sweet tribute to his wife.

“Happy Mother’s Day @alexfevolamakeup our girls are the luckiest having you as their mum. Such an amazing role model for them to learn and grow from.”

In April 2022, Alex revealed the details of Brendan and Lara’s affair in her book Silver Linings.

“I felt a twinge of doubt… It was at that moment my heart sank. I felt sick. I felt insane even saying it but I knew it was true. I don’t know how I knew I just did,” she penned.

“One of the reasons I felt this was because I knew Brendan very well and he’d mentioned every other person that was featuring on [The Footy Show], but he had never mentioned her. I knew exactly why.”

After finding a voicemail from Lara on Brendan’s phone, Alex then confronted the model.

“I said: ‘It’s Alex Fevola, Brendan’s wife. Why are you doing this?’ She was silent. I asked again: ‘How could you do this? You know he’s married and we’ve just had a baby’. There was a pause and then she hung up,” she wrote.

The pair often post loved-up selfies on Instagram, and are clearly still head over heels for each other!
