Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated the money raised from the sale of their wedding photos to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
The photos emerged of Brangelina’s secret French wedding in a world exclusive on the covers of both Hello! and People magazines.
After it was that Brad and Angelina had wed in secret at their French estate, Chateau Miraval, the hunt was on for photographic evidence.
With dual highly successful Hollywood careers, Brad and Ange decided to forgo the profits, instead requesting that all funds be donated to their Maddox Jolie-Pitt foundation (MJP). The foundation was established in 2006 to help eradicate poverty around the world.
The website states, “MJP is committed to environmental security, creating peace and stability in all communities by planning and implementing interventions that prevent negative environmental changes. Working with impoverished rural villagers and local governments to alleviate food insecurities and increase access to basic primary healthcare and education.”
In an interview with NPR magazine in 2011, Brad discussed their choice to sell photos of their babies and said it was a means to maintain some control over who exactly profits from the pictures:
“We have to plan an escape every day just to get out of the house — kind of a Mission Impossible with decoys, and that’s the life we live in, and that’s the one we asked for. But we knew there was a bounty on our head… and we know the lengths they go to to get that shot. So we figured, ‘Let’s cut it off in the beginning,’ and instead of that money going to people I do not respect, we would make some good out of it.”
