Lady Gaga wowed at the Grammys with an eight minute medley of David Bowie hits.
With elaborate eye make up, bright orange hair and an embellished white jump suit, Gaga was very much channeling Ziggy Stardust.
The singer was also joined on stage by Nile Rodgers, who produced Bowie’s 1983 album Let’s Dance.
But Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, made his thoughts on the performance clear by posting a subtle jibe at Gaga on twitter.
Tweeting the dictionary definition of ‘gaga’ he said: “’Overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.’ Damn it! What IS that word!?”
Overall though, Gaga’s performance got an enthusiastic thumbs up from celebrity Bowie fans.
Singer Bette Midler tweeted: “Lady Gaga slays it!!! And there’s the great #nilerogers … David Bowie lives. God, I miss him.”
Actress Reese Witherspoon added, “that Bowie tribute gave me chills”, while Ellen DeGeneres wrote: “That was so great. You’re always going to another level.”
