Bindi Irwin is growing up infront of our eyes, having just celebrated her sweet sixteenth birthday.  The daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, has been taking to Instagram to share precious memories of their life together.

Buckle up! Bindi’s ready for the road!

Bindi will never forget what made her dad Steve so special to her. It wasn’t his worldwide fame, nor even his amazing way with animals.

“He was my hero, he was always there for me. He taught me so many things. But most of all, he was fun”.

Steve tragically died at just 44, when a stingray’s barb speared him through the heart while he was filming off the coast of Queensland in 2006.

Bindi continues to carry on his good work as a young conservationist and wildlife champion. Bindi said: “You can take the path that leads you down the aisle of sadness, or you can say, ‘I’m never going to let this person’s memory die. I’m going to make sure everything they worked for continues.”

She’s even helped make one of Steve’s dreams a reality by opening a new island as part of Australia Zoo.
