In her first ever dance routine for the US version of Dancing with the Stars Bindi blew away the audience away with an impressive and high-paced Jive to Elton John’s classic hit Crocodile Rock… naturally!
The 17-year-old performed with her partner Derek Hough, 30, and together they earned the highest score of the night, with 24 out of a possible 30 points.
The bubbly wildlife warrior began the performance in her infamous khaki get-up before revealing a sparkly, ballroom-appropriate green number underneath.
The oldest child of the late Steve Irwin explained during her intro on the show that, “I’m used to khaki’s and gorgeous animals… so this is completely different for me.”
While Derek added about his new pal, “Bindi just feels the room with this amazing energy, it’s contagious. Having a traumatic experience when she was younger, losing her father – she’s kind of turned it into a positive thing.”
Touchingly the teenager told the cameras, “My mum always said that anytime Dad would watch me dance around the Zoo that he would cry.”
“The real reason I’m doing this is to make him proud and everyone back at home in Australia proud,” and she absolutely did, in a high-energy and completely breath-taking number.
Following her killer performance, the crowd erupted in applause and gave the Aussie a standing ovation – among them proud mum Terri and brother Bob would who beamed from the audience!
